HealthEngine Supports Men’s Health Week June 15-21

Men are less likely to visit their GP than women, so what can we do about it? From a SNAP chat with a GP to taking advantage of health technology, HealthEngine has recommendations to support Men’s Health Week in Australia.  It’s the right time to elevate the conversation and help men see that  healthcare and mental health support is more accessible than ever.

Given men experience more lifestyle-related health conditions, have more accidents and higher suicide rates, it’s time for Aussie blokes to have that SNAP chat with their GP to make needed lifestyle changes and talk about mental health too. SNAP aka smoking, poor nutrition, excess alcohol consumption, and insufficient physical activity, underlie many health conditions and getting these in check is a great first step for preventative care.

For men who find it inconvenient to make time to book an appointment or get to the GP, tech is the solution. “Healthcare has never been more accessible, so turning to technology like the HealthEngine App opens up the ability to book appointments online 24/7 and access telehealth appointments too.  When timing, location or situation are factors, telehealth is a great place to start to support a health screening or mental health check,” said Dr Marcus Tan, CEO, Co-Founder and Medical Director of HealthEngine.

HealthEngine recommends checking with your regular GP for telehealth first, but if you don’t have one, you can search on the app or website and find someone near you and have a face to face follow-up appointment when needed.  After talking with your GP about mental health questions or concerns, you can also search and find a psychologist or counsellor on HealthEngine to book an in-person or telehealth consult.

With online appointment booking on HealthEngine, you can book appointments when it’s convenient for you.  If you need to find a GP or psychologist, you can find a practice close to home or work and search by male or female practitioner if you have a preference.  Practices are also identified as bulk bill or private paid.  The HealthEngine app also has the My Care Team feature so all your healthcare providers are saved for easy reference, access and future appointment booking.
